Mumbai petrified by Mindless Carnage

It was a typical early dismissal day on Wednesday (11/26/2008) for Thanksgiving. As a sedentary IT contractor intending to finish up the day with assigned programming work, little was I to know what was to happen to Mumbai that very afternoon. I had no clue anything was on, even from the polite conversations with fellow Indian contractors. I have to guess that none of us saw any flash news about the Mumbai Terorist Attack, or else there would have been a flush of shocked responses from all of us.

It is now well over 4 days from when 10 misguided, brainwashed, unthinking gunmen held a bustling commercial metropolis of 18 million people at ransom. Collateral damage:
1. Maharashtra ATS Chief Hemant Karkare, Additional Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte and Mumbai Police "encounter specialist" Vijay Salaskar, all slain by well trained madmen
2. NSG officer Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan shot dead in operation against the gunmen
3. A total of 15 police officials and 2 NSG commandos fell to terrorist bullets
4. Civilians like Sabina Sehgal Saikia of Delhi, Jewish Rabbi family from New York, Spiritual seekers from Virginia among those killed for no good reason
5. 195 dead and more than 250 left injured

As shocks still reverberate across the globe, many newspapers carry the news in their own style, while world leaders and even the scientific community continue to condemn this CARNAGE in one voice.
